Zwift + New Trainer
”The Zwift Ride is a No-Brainer.” - Cycling Weekly
Zwift Ride meets KICKR CORE 2 – the ultimate indoor training setup.
FAQ - Zwift Ride and Wahoo
The Zwift Ride bundle now comes with the upgraded Wahoo KICKR Core 2 trainer, replacing the original Core. While the smart Zwift frame itself remains unchanged—still offering built-in controllers, virtual shifting, and full rider adjustability—the Core 2 adds major enhancements. Key upgrades include WiFi connectivity for seamless updates, Race Mode with faster data transmission, KICKR Bridge for sensor consolidation, improved stability with redesigned legs, clearer multi-color LEDs, and a refined flywheel for a more realistic ride feel. Since September 2024, all new Zwift Ride bundles include Core 2, giving riders a more connected, responsive, and reliable indoor cycling experience.
Race Mode boosts responsiveness by increasing the trainer’s power broadcast rate from 1 Hz to up to 10 Hz. Instead of sending averaged power once per second, it updates with every flywheel revolution, capturing small wattage peaks during high-speed sprints or attacks. The result is more precise pacing, drafting, and timing of accelerations in competitive scenarios. Available only with Wi-Fi, Race Mode brings a premium racing advantage to KICKR CORE 2, making virtual competition more accessible and accurate.
The Zwift Ride with KICKR Core 2 is essentially a complete smart bike, combining a smart frame with the upgraded Core 2 trainer. It offers most of the functionality of premium smart bikes at less than half the cost, making it one of the best-value options for indoor cycling. Key advantages include built-in Zwift controllers, quick height and fit adjustments for multiple riders, and easy storage thanks to its split design. While it lacks premium extras like climbing simulation, haptics, or broader app compatibility, it delivers excellent Zwift-specific performance, reliability, and versatility—perfect for dedicated Zwifters or newcomers.
The Zwift Ride with KICKR Core 2 does not include a Zwift membership, which must be purchased separately. The package provides the smart frame, upgraded Core 2 trainer with pre-installed Zwift Cog, and Zwift Click controllers—everything needed to start riding, except the subscription. While past promotions bundled a year of Zwift with certain trainers, this offer no longer applies. Current membership options are billed monthly or annually, making ongoing access a separate cost to consider. In short, the hardware delivers a complete setup out of the box, but Zwift access requires its own subscription plan.
