Final Preparations for Vätternrundan 2026 – Tips & Checklist
Share
The Countdown to Vätternrundan Is On 🚴
As an official partner of Vätternrundan, we at Wahoo are looking forward to meeting you all during this year's Vätternrundan weekends. Whether you're going for a personal best or simply want to enjoy the experience alongside thousands of cyclists from around the world – Vätternrundan is about the same thing for everyone. Getting around in your own way.
This is it. The training weeks are behind you, your legs are in shape, and all that's left is rolling up to the start line. But before you do, there are a few things worth checking off.
Take Your Time
Our most important tip before the race? Ride within your own ability and enjoy the journey.
Vätternrundan is a fantastic challenge, but also an experience that's allowed to take time. It's not the fastest legs that make it to the finish – it's the smartest minds. The ones who manage their energy, eat and drink on schedule, and dare to hold back at the start.
Find your pace in the first few kilometres. Listen to your body along the way. And remember that every pedal stroke counts – whether you roll into Motala after 8 hours or 15.
Final Checklist Before the Start
Being practically prepared is just as important as being mentally ready. Go through the list below the day before – better once too many times than fumbling around in the dark at the start area.
Bike and equipment
- Tyres pumped and checked for damage
- Brakes and gears working properly
- Lights charged and securely mounted – both front and rear lights are mandatory
- Spare inner tube, puncture kit and pump on the bike
- Bike computer charged and synced with your route
Nutrition and hydration
- Energy distributed and accessible – aim for at least one intake every 30–45 minutes
- Bottles filled and extra supply planned if needed
- You know where the aid stations are along the route
Clothing and comfort
- Clothing suited to the weather forecast – check it the evening before
- Windproof jacket or rain cape within easy reach
- Cycling shoes and pedals matched and tested
- Saddle and handlebar position feels right
Wahoo ELEMNT – Your Partner Around Vättern
For those riding with a Wahoo ELEMNT, there are several smart features that can make the ride a little easier and safer.
Smart Navigation doesn't just show you where you are – it shows the road ahead and alerts you to upcoming turns well in advance. No need to take your eyes off the road; you can focus entirely on pedalling.
Custom Alerts let you set personal reminders for nutrition, hydration, or other key moments. Set an alert every 30 minutes and let the computer handle the timing – you handle the legs.
Live Tracking lets family and friends follow your journey around Vättern in real time. Share the link with your support crew in advance so they know exactly when to line up at the finish with coffee and cheers.
The Segment feature is also worth knowing about. Along Vätternrundan there are sections where it's easy to push a little too hard – especially when riding in a group. With Wahoo ELEMNT you can keep track of effort and pace, and avoid blowing up too early.

The Heart Rate Monitor – An Underrated Tool on Race Day
Many cyclists use a heart rate monitor regularly in training but forget about it on race day. That's a shame – because that's exactly when it's most useful.
During a 300 km ride it's easy to start too hard and pay the price much later. A heart rate monitor gives you objective feedback on your effort and helps you stay in the right zone all the way from Motala and back.
Combined with a Wahoo ELEMNT bike computer, you get a complete picture of your performance in real time.

When: 5–6 June and 11–13 June 2026 Where: Motala harbour
Come by our stand to talk cycling, test products, ask questions, or just fuel up before your ride in good company. We'll have team members on hand to help with everything from ELEMNT settings to advice on your next purchase.
